ChatGPT product feed
A ChatGPT product feed is a file of a shop’s products in OpenAI’s format, which ChatGPT uses to find and show them with current prices and stock.

What it means
OpenAI lets merchants send their catalogue to ChatGPT as a product feed. In OpenAI’s words, “Product feeds provide structured catalog data that helps ChatGPT surface the right products with accurate pricing, availability, and seller context.”1
The specification requires nine fields for every item: an item ID, a title, a description, a product page URL, the brand, the seller’s name, a main image, availability and price. The title is the “Product name, including the selected variant when relevant”. The description is a “Factual product description for this item”, in plain text. OpenAI asks you to aim for at most 150 characters for the title and 5,000 for the description.2
Optional fields carry the detail that answers questions: GTIN, MPN, a category path, colour, size and dimensions.2 OpenAI says onboarding product feeds “is currently available to approved partners”.3
Think of it like this
It is like the menu you give a food delivery app. The app shows customers only what the menu lists, at the prices it gives, so a dish missing from the menu might as well not be in the kitchen.
For example
A supplier row gives the title “NX-4821-W FF SS” and the description “See datasheet”. In the feed they become “Brackmore 60cm fridge freezer, stainless steel” and a plain-text description built from the specifications, with Brackmore in its own brand field.
Why it matters
The feed is only as good as the catalogue it is built from. OpenAI asks for identifiers kept “as strings to preserve leading zeros”. Leave out unknown optional values instead of filling them with placeholders such as n/a.2
Not to be confused with
A ChatGPT product feed differs from a Google Merchant Center feed. OpenAI uses its own field names, such as item_id and seller_name. It accepts a Google-format file only once it has confirmed that format for your feed, and then with checkout disabled.2
