eBay item specifics, filled infrom your supplier’s spreadsheet
Send the spreadsheet exactly as your supplier sent it. We find the brand, colour, material and barcode for every product, one value to a cell and spelt the same way every time, each with a link to where it came from. You then list with eBay’s own upload file or your listing tool.

How it works
Send the file as it arrived
Any columns and any names, with no template to fill in. A SKU or barcode on each row is enough to start.
We find and clean the values
Every product is matched to the real thing. The details eBay asks about are found on the maker’s and other retailers’ pages and checked against a source, and each is cut down to a single value, spelt one way.
You list with it
Where supplier spreadsheets fall short of eBay
eBay wants each detail as its own name and value, set by category. A supplier’s spreadsheet was made for something else, and these are the gaps that show, each with eBay’s own page linked.
Required details that are not there
Before(empty)
AfterHollinsby
eBay marks some item specifics Required in each category, with Brand, Size and Colour as its own examples, and new or revised listings without them “will be blocked”.2 Suppliers leave plenty out. We find what is missing on the maker’s and retailers’ own pages, and every value keeps its link.
Two values in one cell
BeforeGrey/
CharcoalOak/ Walnut AfterGrey
Unless eBay lets an item specific hold several values, it uses only the first one it is sent.4 Grey/Charcoal sent whole is one value that matches neither, so a cell holding two is cut down to one by a rule you agree.
One material, three spellings
Befores/
steelStainless steel 304SS AfterStainless Steel
eBay asks sellers to use its suggested values “as much as possible”, so buyers can find their items.2 Every spelling is folded onto one value, and if you choose eBay’s suggested value as that value, every product lands on it.
Sizes eBay cannot read
BeforeSee descriptionN/
A(blank) Afterthe real size, in eBay’s own values
eBay is standardising fashion sizes, and told UK sellers in August 2026 to update their fashion listings that month.5 Its developer notes set out the plan. Sizes it is sure of, such as Small, it converts itself, but from August 2026 missing sizes and ones it cannot read, such as See description or N/A, are to be blocked or put on hold, listings sent by file or listing tool included.6 We find the real size and write it in eBay’s own values before it gets there.
Barcodes the spreadsheet has rewritten
Before5.01235E+12
After5012345678900
eBay’s EAN is “a unique 8 or 13-digit identifier”, and values that break its rules “will not be recognized as product identifiers”.4 We put the real number back from the product itself. Where a product has no barcode at all, eBay UK’s text for the gap is “Does not apply”, never a supplier’s own code.7

What you get back
A Google Sheet or Excel file with one clean column for each detail, and the same products before and after so you can see exactly what changed.
One value per cell, one spelling per value
Brand, colour, material and the rest each get a column of their own, with compound cells split and every spelling folded onto the word you choose.
The gaps filled, with sources
We find missing specifications, descriptions and images on manufacturer and retailer pages. Every value keeps a link to where it came from, so anyone on your team can check it.
Barcodes and part numbers that are the maker’s
Every product is matched to the real one by its code, so the EAN and MPN in the file are the manufacturer’s, not a supplier’s stock code.
Titles and descriptions written from the facts
Product titles, descriptions, page titles and search snippets are written from the values already in the data, to length limits that are enforced, not hoped for.
Images that load
The full-size original behind every thumbnail, with logos, badges and duplicates taken out, and every link checked before the file is built.
A score before anything goes live
One quality score for the file and a grade for each product, worst first, so you know what to look at. It warns and never blocks.

Questions eBay sellers ask
What eBay sellers ask before they send us a file. Anything else, ask us and a person answers.
Is this an eBay listing service?
No, we never sell or list for you. When eBay makes more item specifics required, it tells the main listing tool providers before the rules apply. Each reacts its own way: some handle the change, others tell you what to do. Either way, every product needs the values, and finding them is our part: brand, size, colour, material and the rest, checked and one per cell. You keep listing the way you do now.
Which item specifics does eBay require?
It depends on the category. eBay UK labels each item specific Required, Recommended or Additional, and flags Required Soon where one is about to change. For a required one it gives Brand, Size and Colour as examples.
Can you fix item specifics on listings I already have?
We clean and complete the data behind them. eBay’s Seller Hub will download a file of your active listings that are missing required or recommended item specifics, which you can fill from ours and upload back to eBay.
What does “This attribute isn’t valid for this variation” mean?
The detail your listing varies by is one eBay no longer accepts. Its own example is a kitchen tap listed by “Type” in Stainless steel, Rubbed Bronze and Chrome, which could go under “Finish” instead. Where no valid detail fits, eBay says to make separate listings. We find each version’s real finish, size or colour, spelt one way, ready for whichever detail fits.
What goes in the Brand item specific?
An actual brand name, or “Unbranded” when the item has none, and never a value made only of symbols. In one listing every variation shares the same Brand. Where part numbers tell the variations apart, Brand goes in once for the listing and each variation carries its own MPN. We find each product’s brand on the maker’s and retailers’ pages, and spell it one way across the whole file.
Will eBay change my fashion sizes itself?
Only the ones it is sure of. Under eBay’s plan for fashion sizes, high-confidence values are converted automatically, “Small” to “S” for example, which leaves your own records showing a different value from eBay’s. Missing sizes and ones it cannot read, such as “See description”, get no such help and face a block or a hold. New listings also lose the option of a custom size. We write each size in eBay’s own values from the start.
Why does the barcode matter on eBay?
Because eBay can build part of a listing from it. It uses an EAN to look for a matching product in its catalogue, and a match brings that product’s title, description, item specifics and stock photo into the listing. A code that breaks eBay’s rules is not recognised as a product identifier. So we match every code to the real product, then find the details on the maker’s and retailers’ pages, whether eBay knows the product or not.
What if a product has no barcode?
eBay UK has set words for that. Where the category requires a barcode and the product has none, the value is “Does not apply”, and the same goes for a maker’s part number that does not exist. Other eBay sites use their own language: “Nicht zutreffend” in Germany, “Non applicable” in France. Those words go in only after the maker’s code has been searched for and not found. A supplier’s stock code never goes in.
Doing it yourself?
Everything on this page is written up in full on the blog, with eBay’s own pages cited, and every word of the trade is in the glossary in plain English.
