Multipack
A multipack is several identical units of one product sold together as one item at one price, such as a box of six ink cartridges.
What it means
A multipack is several of the same product sold as one. Google defines it as “a group of several identical products for sale as one product”, made up either by you or by the manufacturer.1
Who made the pack decides the data. For a manufacturer’s multipack, Google wants the pack’s own GTIN, “and not the individual products”. For one you make up yourself, it wants the single product’s GTIN, MPN and brand.1 Yours also needs the multipack attribute, the number of products you grouped. A manufacturer’s pack should not have it.2
The count covers what you grouped, not everything inside. Three of a manufacturer’s 20-packs of pens, grouped by you, count as “3”, not 60. For a pack the manufacturer made, Google points you to the unit pricing measure instead, if you want to include the number of units.2
Think of it like this
Take socks sold in a pack of five: five identical pairs, one price tag, and the till sees one item, not five.

Why it matters
The count keeps your pack apart from the single bottle. Google’s Duplicate GTIN issue fires when products share the same GTIN, multipack and condition, which it says could mean “one product listed twice”.4 For a pack you made, Google also requires the attribute for free listings, and for Shopping ads in the UK.2
