Shopping Graph
The Shopping Graph is Google’s store of product information from brands, retailers and others, used across Search, ads and Google’s AI features.

What it means
Google calls the Shopping Graph “a dynamic repository of product info that provides an up-to-date view of the products available”. Brands, retailers and other content providers send product information to Google “through tools like Merchant Center and Manufacturer Center”.1
In May 2025 Google put it at more than 50 billion product listings, “each with details like reviews, prices, color options and availability”. More than 2 billion of them are refreshed every hour.2
Google says information from it may be used in Search results, ads, YouTube and generative AI features. The uses include helping shoppers find products, displaying product details and powering “review summaries, buying guidance, or product recommendations”.1 AI Mode’s shopping experience draws on it too.2
Think of it like this
It works like a vast phone directory for products, compiled from what brands and shops send in. Google’s shopping features look products up in it, so an entry with half its details missing is hard to find.
For example
A retailer’s Merchant Center feed sends a Brackmore fridge freezer with its GTIN, brand, “Height 1850 mm” and price, facts Google can show and compare. The same fridge sent as “NX-4821-W”, with no brand or measurements, leaves Google almost nothing to say.
Why it matters
When Google describes your product in results or an AI answer, it draws on the details it holds. Missing measurements, a wrong price or a damaged GTIN in your feed become, in effect, what Google knows about the product.
Not to be confused with
The Shopping Graph is not Google Merchant Center. Merchant Center is the tool you use to send product data. The Shopping Graph is Google’s own store, which takes in data from Merchant Center and other sources.1
